To find out if you may qualify for The WorkSource financial aid for child care, answer the following three questions:

1. Do you live in one of the following thirteen counties?
Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller, Wharton

2. Do you a) work at least 30 hours per week; b) go to school full-time; or c) work and go to school combined for at least 30 hours per week?

3. Do you meet The WorkSource family income guidelines according to the table below?

If you answered YES to all three of these questions, you may be eligible for child care financial aid through The WorkSource.

Dad and SonIf your family meets eligibility requirements, and if The WorkSource has funds available, we may pay a portion of your family's child care costs. You will be responsible for a co-payment based on the family's income.

We make direct payments to the child care providers chosen by working parents to help you keep your job or train for a better job. A provider must be approved by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services in order to qualify for payment by The WorkSource. The WorkSource can help you find a provider in your area. Financial aid is available now for eligible families.

If you believe you may be eligible for financial aid, you should register online now, visit one of our local career offices, or call The WorkSource at 1-888-469-JOBS (5627).

When applying for child care financial aid, you will need the following information:

  • Social security number and date of birth for all household members.
  • Employment information for all household members including name, address, and phone number of the employer, work hours/days, rate of pay, how often paid.
  • Training information for all adult household members including name, address, and phone number of the school, days per week, current enrollment hours, total hours completed, and anticipated graduation date.
  • Amount of household income received from other sources such as TANF, Child Support, SSI, etc. (Child Care financial assistance requires proof that you have applied for child support through the Attorney General's Office).
  • Child care information including name, address, phone number, city, and zip code of a licensed or registered child care provider.
For Relative child care providers, the name, address, phone number, social security number, and their relationship to the child(ren). Note: a criminal background check is required.
